District Adds SMS Messaging

The Owego Apalachin CSD will be adding SMS (text messaging) to the list of communication options available to parents and guardians. 
 
The district will be using the SchoolMessenger system to deliver the text messages, straight to your mobile phone, with important information about events, school closings and delays, safety alerts, and more. 

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, around 6 p.m., parents/guardians with a text-capable phone number on file with the district will receive a text message from the short code 67587, which is SchoolMessenger, inviting you to 'Opt-In' to receive important messages from your child's school. The message will read as follows:

“Owego Apalachin Central School District messages. Reply Y to confirm, HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. Schoolmessenger.com/tm”

If you do not receive an opt-in text message invitation, it is because we don’t have your text-capable phone number on file. If you do not receive the opt-in message, please notify the district registrar, Jennifer Chandler via phone 687-7301 x1070 or chandlerj@oacsd.org with your updated information. The next day, you will receive the Opt-In Message from SchoolMessenger and should then reply 'Y' in order to begin receiving the messages.  (It will take 24 hours for your number to sync with SchoolMessenger.)

If you do not wish to receive text messages from the district, simply do not reply to the opt-in invitation. To stop receiving texts at any time, text STOP to 67587.
