UPK Registration Information


Universal PreK and Kindergarten Registration (Updated Info 5/20/20) 
We have once again extended the deadline, and subsequently the lottery, for UPK registrations. Parents of students who quailfy to attend UPK in the Fall of 2020 (student must turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2020) as well as Kindergarten Registration, can physically turn in completed registration packets at the Owego Elementary School Office during the following dates/times:
May 26th & 27th, June 2nd & 3rd, June 9th & 10th, June 16th & 17th  from 9:00-11:00AM

Regardless of the elementary building your child will attend, all registration forms can be dropped off at OES during these times. Please remember you will be entering a public building, so all social distancing requirements will be in place. If you are able, you may also email registration forms and other required documentation to Jodi Lindhorst at [email protected] - to avoid contact as much as possible, please bring all of your paperwork completed, and copies of the necessary documentation for registration. 

The deadline to register for UPK will now be 11:00AM on June 17th. The Lottery, if needed, will take place on Monday, June 22nd at 10:00am.
UPK and Kindergarten Screenings have been delayed for now. Parents will receive more information once those details are determined. 

UPK Sessions:

Apalachin Elementary – full day program (9:05 – 3:25)

Owego Elementary – full day program (9:05 – 3:25), AM session (9:05 – 11:35) and PM session (12:55 – 3:25)

Children will attend the UPK program at the elementary building where they will be attending kindergarten.  

Once a child reaches age 4, the district maybe able to provide transportation, both ways for full day sessions, to the morning session or home from the afternoon session, if the parent/guardian chooses.  It will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pick up their child after the morning session is over or transport their child to the afternoon session.  

If you are interested in your child being considered for this program, please complete theregistration formsand required documentation.In addition to the registration form,the following is required: copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization record (polio, measles, diphtheria, mumps, rubella, varicella and hepatitis B), two forms of proof of residency, and the health certificate signed by your child’s physician.*Note, health records will not be required with the registration form at this time as we realize families are likely not able to visit their physicians. 

Due to limited openings, it may be necessary to randomly select which students will be able to attend the program.  Registrations will be accepted until 11:00 AM on 6/17/20, at which time a random selection will be held at the district office, if needed. If your location or session fills up, you will have the opportunity to choose from other available sessions, if applicable.  After all slots are filled, a waiting list will be established based on draw order.
