Greetings from the OFA Guidance Department!
As summer draws to an end we begin looking ahead to the start of school and with that, Freshmen Orientation. This year’s orientation will be for both students AND parents and will take place Wednesday September 1, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Orientation is an important transitional element for each student and is a great way to limit the anxiety that can come with entering a new and unfamiliar setting.
Students and parents will report to the OFA gymnasium for the welcome and introductions. Parking and entrance will be through OAMS. Upon completion of the welcome portion, students will receive a welcome packet that will include their 9th grade schedules for the upcoming school year. Students and parents will then have time for an open tour to find classrooms, locate lockers, and meet teachers.
For families unable to attend orientation, students will be emailed their first period class and can report there on the first day of school to receive their schedule. (This is how grades 10-12 receive their schedules – on the first day of school). The welcome packet distributed at orientation will be given to the student in their first period class as well. Due to Labor Day weekend, the first day of school is the only other available time to receive schedules.
Freshmen Orientation is great way for students to become familiar with their new home for the next four years and for parents to share in this experience from the very beginning. We hope you will join us for this evening and we look forward to meeting you!
