District Communication Update
The district website has been updated with a new look and new features. The re-design is still being worked on and items are being added and updated daily. Please reach out and let us know if you aren’t able to locate specific information.
You will notice that one of our new features is called Let’s Talk!, and it will be the best way to contact the person, department or building that can best help answer your questions. Using Let’s Talk! will ensure that your question/comment will be handled by the appropriate district staff in a timely fashion.
You may have noticed our school buses on the roads this past week. Our drivers have been out running their potential routes as they finalize what pick-up and drop-off times will look like. We appreciate everyone who responded to the Transportation Request Form. The information that was provided was extremely helpful in the planning of routes for the 2021-2022 school year. We will be notifying families of their bus numbers and times next week.
Food Service Update
Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for ALL students the entire 2021-2022 school year. You will notice that our new website has a dining icon located on each building pages menu. This is the quickest way to access the Breakfast and Lunch menu for your child’s building. We would like to thank the Food Service staff for all of their hard work this past summer. The district provided 27,678 meals to students over the summer. Meals were available at pick-up locations and for summer enrichment camp participants.
OES & AES Update
We know everyone is excited to find out who they have as a teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. We just ask that you remain patient and allow for some more time for the buildings to finalize their lists. The class lists may need to be adjusted based on the final health and safety protocols issued by New York State. Our teachers are just as excited to be able to reach out and contact their students to welcome them into their classroom! Please know this communication will come as soon as possible.
Orientation information for PreK and Kindergarten students will be coming directly from the building.
Elementary School supply lists are available on each building page (OES & AES) on our website in the documents section of the menu. Students should show up to the first day of school with their iPad charged and ready to go. Students who do not have an iPad will receive one that day or as soon as a device can be set-up for them.
Registration for the FREE OA after school program at both OES and AES is open. This is available for PreK through 5th grade students in each building. The program runs from 2:30pm - 6:00pm everyday after school. To Register, Click the Family ID Link Below and then select: Owego Apalachin CSD - 21-22 After School Care Program Registration:

Health & Safety Protocols
We were hoping to be able to provide more information in regards to what New York State will be requiring for COVID Health and Safety protocols. At this time we continue to wait on the specific guidance and any mandates that we will be required to follow from NYS, NYS Department of Education, NYS Department of Health and Tioga County Public Health. Once we receive their final guidance and recommendations, we will put the final touches on our back to school plans and communicate them as quickly as possible with our entire school community. We are hopeful that we will be sharing this information next week. Please know that we will continue to build on the incredible success that we had across the district last year.
