Thanks to federal child nutrition waivers, all Owego Apalachin Central School District students, regardless of income, have had access to free meals through out the pandemic. Unfortunately, the federal waivers expired on June 30, 2022, and Congress and the United States Department of Agriculture have opted to not continue child nutrition waivers. This means that the Owego Apalachin CSD will no longer be able to provide free lunch for all students for the 2022-2023 school year. The Pre-Pandemic Free Breakfast Program will continue for students in Grades K-8.
For the upcoming school year:
- Families must fill out free and reduced meal price applications for the 2022-2023 school year and meet income qualifications in order to receive free meals.
- Families who do not qualify for free and reduced price meals for students will need to resume paying for school lunches.
Owego Apalachin CSD Families can find the free and reduced meal application on our website here, in the OA district calendar that will be coming home at the beginning of the school year, or by contacting the Food Service Department at 687-687-7301 x1041.
As a reminder, Free & Reduced Applications approved during the 2021-2022 school year expire on September 30, 2022. Parents and guardians must submit new applications at the start of the 2022-2023 school year to continue eligibility after September 30, 2022.
