Olive T. Read, Bea A Reeter and Rita Book came to OES to kick off the 2nd annual March Madness Reading Challenge. They are funny teachers who challenge readers to set a school-wide goal. Last year, the goal was 15,000 books and OES students surpassed that goal by reading 19,732 books. This year the teachers raised the bar! They challenged students at OES to read 25,000 books in exchange for sliming the principal.
When we began online learning on March 17th, we were worried that they would not be able to make their goal, but OES students not only met the challenge of 25,000 books- they surpassed that!
OES readers were probably encouraged when Olive, Bea, and Rita promised to add some additional staff to slime if the students could make it to 30,000 books. They beat that goal by reading 30,130 books/chapters!
Mrs. Hallenbeck’s class and Mrs. Marsh’s class were the top readers in the challenge with the most books read, so their teachers agreed to get slimed along with Mr. Francisco and a special guest.
Enjoy the video readers! Congratulations!
