The Owego Apalachin Central School District, in partnership with the American Dairy Association North East, participated in a fun promotional program to highlight food from local New York State Farms. Once a month the district does "New York Thursdays" where the district offers a menu of locally sourced milk, dairy products and other foods from New York State Farms. Part of the NY Thursday program was to watch videos at https://milkvids.com/ to participate in a fun contest with a chance to win a prize for your school.
Congratulations to the students, staff and families at Owego Elementary School for winning the NY Thursday contest. OES will be receiving a $5,000 school garden kit for students to build gardens in their classrooms and learn about the nourishment of plants. Below you will find the letter from the American Dairy Association North East that outlines the school garden prize. The Dairy Association was "blown away" with the participation from OES and their viewing of the milk videos that they are also awarding the school with a farm tour prize as well. This will give a group of OES students an opportunity to visit a local farm to hear about where their school milk comes from and more!
