Buffalo Business First just released their
2018 academic rankings of the 431 school districts in Upstate New York. The Owego Apalachin Central School District
is ranked as the 96th school district in Upstate New York and the 10th
school district in the Binghamton-Elmira region.
Owego Apalachin Central School District Superintendent, Corey Green, stated “We are always pleased to be recognized for the continued growth in student achievement as a school district, especially at the state level. Buffalo Business First evaluated test scores and graduation rates for 431 school districts in Upstate New York for this ranking, which was published on October 1, 2018. Business First's school district rankings are determined by a 208-part formula that is fueled by assessment scores and graduation rates from 2014 through 2017, using the latest information available from the New York State Education Department. District rankings reflect the collective performance of each district’s public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Upstate New York, as defined by Business
First, encompasses the state's 48 counties north of the 42nd parallel. It
includes Western New York (the eight-county Buffalo-Niagara Falls market), as
well as the Albany, Binghamton-Elmira, Plattsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse,
Utica-Rome and Watertown markets.
