FFA Members from across District 7 will be heading to Owego Free Academy for their Leadership Development Competitions

Owego (Friday, February 2, 2024/Owego FFA Chapter) – This Saturday, over 200 students from across New York FFA District 7 to compete in the first round of their Leadership Development Events (LDE’s) at Owego Free Academy.

Leadership Development Events (LDE’s) are FFA events centered around preparing members for their futures by developing their communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. These events range from Extemporaneous Public Speaking to the reciting of our FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany and all the in-betweens. The contests are designed specifically to encourage advocation and diversity in the agriculture industry.

“Leadership Development Events have given me the confidence to talk in front of large groups. If not for competing in Creed Speaking in the 7th grade, I definitely wouldn’t be a District President right now,” said Hunter Pitcher, the current District 7 President of New York FFA and our chapter Vice President.

The advancing members will go to compete in Cincinnatus, NY in March at the Sub-State level competitions, which combine three or more district advancers.
