Binghamton, NY – The Owego Free Academy River Hawks (6-1), currently holding the No. 17 spot statewide for Class A teams, went on to dominate once again in Section IV play by blowing out the Chenango Forks Blue Devils 12-0 in just five innings due to the mercy rule.
Hitting Attack and Pitching Perfection. Even though there was great pitching, the Owego bats provided plenty of cushion early. Leading off the hitting was Ashlyn Dalton, who had a big night, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Miley Laubach also delivered a double, scoring 2 RBIs.
Starting pitcher Emily Sipe did more than just deal from the rubber; she helped her own cause significantly by driving in 3 RBIs. Sipe was untouchable through four innings of work, allowing just two hits and keeping the Blue Devils off the scoreboard entirely.
Bella Beams provided the highlight of the night when she tracked a deep fly ball from Forks' best hitter, timed her jump perfectly at the wall, and reached over the fence to rob a home run.
"I was so proud of our defense for making big plays behind me and keeping the shutout intact," said Emily Sipe following her dominant outing.
Closing the Door in the 5th inning, Joslynn Space moved from the field to the circle in relief. Space was efficient and overpowering, striking out the side to secure the shutout and trigger the mercy rule.

Looking Ahead: With a 6-1 record and a climbing state ranking, the River Hawks return home in their next outing on Wednesday, 4/22, vs. Seton Catholic at 5:30 pm.
