The Transportation department is working this summer to route for the new School Year! For us to prepare for the 2024-2025 school year, we are asking ALL parents/guardians to fill out the following survey to indicate whether or not their child will OR will not need Transportation to begin the new school year. This process helps us to accurately plan bus routes. Typically, buses are routed under the assumption that all students will ride. On many routes, this ends up not being the case, and the bus times become inconsistent for those who are riding. Collecting this information ahead of time and routing students based on actual rider counts will help to keep bus pick-up and drop-off times more accurate as well as more consistent. We are asking all parents to please complete and submit the survey below. There is an option to select that you DO NOT need transportation, and that information is just as valuable in developing routes as those who will need transportation. **Filling out this information does NOT lock you into your decision for the entire school year. We fully understand that circumstances can and will change throughout the school year. Please make a selection based on your needs for the START of the 2024-2025 School Year. If, your transportation needs change, please contact the Transportation Office (687-7305) or via Let's Talk! - https://www.oacsd.org/page/lets-talk and we will be happy to work with you on the changes needed for your student. You do not need to 'Hold' a spot for your student(s) in the event they may need transportation at some point in the year. Please indicate on the form what their REGULAR needs will be. ***If your transportation needs do not fall in the categories listed in this form, please contact us at the Transportation Office so we can assist you. Thank you in advance for taking the time to submit your request. It is requested that the schedule you choose for your student be maintained for a minimum of a Monday – Friday weekly schedule. Changes can be made for emergencies only. Complete the Survey by clicking here: https://forms.gle/DbULWLw2EMKbMPR3A New for the 2024-2025 School Year: My Ride K-12 can be downloaded in the Apple and Android app stores. You need to download the app to access updated transportation information for your student(s). Usernames and passwords from Ride 360 will carry over into My Ride K-12. Before School Begins: We are holding Sixth Grade Orientation on Wednesday, August 28th of 2024 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. During the program, families will be able to obtain information about middle school from Administration. School Counselors will have schedules ready to be picked up for students to help our incoming sixth graders prepare for their first day. After the program, you will be able to go on a self-guided tour of OAMS and find your homeroom classroom. Please take a moment to mark this date in your calendar as we look forward to meeting you! On the First Day of School: Our first day of school will be Thursday, September 5th of 2024. All 6th grade students will report directly to the Auditorium after entering the building. Their first period teacher will pick them up there and escort them directly to the classroom. After the first day of school, they will report directly to their Goal Period classroom without a teacher escort. Technology: Your school issued iPad is a very important learning device at the middle school. Daily classwork and assignments will be submitted and/or completed with this device. It is your responsibility to take care of your iPad by keeping the case on it, charging it every night, and bringing it to school every day. Please remember that since your iPad is school property that it falls under the OACSD Code of Conduct, and administrators and teachers can check your device to see what websites you visit and what you post. Please note that cell phones are to be turned off during the school day and put in your locker. Click here to read the PDF letter: https://5il.co/2sw6r

Owego Free Academy students and staff collaborate on a Southern Tier-themed mural for GHS Federal Credit Union with students and staff from Chenango Valley and Oxford. The completed mural officially debuted at the GHS Federal Credit Union’s Front Street, Binghamton branch at a ceremony on June 24th. One school from each of the three counties, Tioga, Broome, and Chenango, served by GHS created a unified relief mural depicting aspects that visually represent their county. The OFA tech department helped cut out the counties to scale and art students from each school designed and created the wooden relief symbols seen in their corresponding county. The OFA art department stained the counties, Chenango Valley art students painted in the rivers/streams and the entire piece was installed by CV art teacher, Matthew Wilson. Anna Hodges and Kayla Newman were the two OFA art students who designed and painted the Tioga County symbols that Adam Williams cut with OFA art teacher Jolene Williams. Incredible work by everyone involved in the project! #OFARiverHawks #sOArTogether
