The Owego Apalachin Central School District (OACSD) received a significant boost for its athletics and student fitness programs, accepting a $10,000 grant from the Dick's Sporting Goods Sports Matter program.
Employees from the Dick's Sporting Goods Conklin, NY, Distribution Center presented a large ceremonial check on Friday, October 17, 2025, during the Owego Free Academy (OFA) Homecoming Pep Rally.

The grant money is earmarked specifically for enhancing the school's fitness facilities. The funds will be used to upgrade equipment in the OFA Weight Room/Fitness Center, providing students and athletes with better resources for strength training, conditioning, and overall physical wellness.

The parade route will start at the Village of Owego Police Department on Temple Street and proceed along North Avenue before turning onto George Street, then to Sheldon Guile Boulevard, and end in front of OFA.

The Homecoming Football game will start at 1:00 pm with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen at halftime.

OA Reminder: The Transportation Department is finalizing bus routes for the new school year. To ensure the most accurate and consistent schedules, we're asking all families to fill out a transportation survey. Your response helps us plan routes based on actual rider counts.
