OA REMINDER: Registration is OPEN for next year’s Universal Pre-K and Kindergarten.
Children are eligible for UPK if his/her birth date is between 12/2/2019 and 12/1/2020.
Children are eligible for Kindergarten if his/her birth date is ON or BEFORE 12/1/2019.
**Please note that once your child is age-eligible for Kindergarten, they are no longer eligible to attend UPK.
Families must register as soon as possible so that a screening time can be scheduled for May.
Families will be notified of their child’s UPK or Kindergarten screening that will take place on one of the following dates:
Owego Elementary School
UPK: May 8, 9, 10
Kindergarten: May 9,10
Apalachin Elementary School
UPK: May 6, 7, 8
Kindergarten: May 6, 7
Registration paperwork can be completed at Owego Elementary School and Apalachin Elementary School. Registration will require a birth certificate, 2 proof of residency, and immunization records. Read the complete registration letter here: https://5il.co/2det1

River Hawks Apparel is NOW available. We are excited to work with All Star Sports of Owego, a wonderful family-owned local business, to provide new gear for those interested.
The online stores listed below are broken up to offer choices of logos based on the different buildings, the district, and a generic River Hawks Athletics store.
The current stores will be open through January 31st. Items do not ship until the store closes. ALL items will be shipped directly to the customer, approximately 3-weeks after the store closes.
We plan to re-open the stores monthly, for the next few months. Current products are based on popular items. We may add or change items month to month. If you would like to suggest certain items, brands, or products for us to consider adding, feel free to contact us.
Please note that the item prices are as low as possible; there is no fundraiser associated with the stores.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Registrations for the 2024-2025 school year are now being accepted for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for families who reside in the district. A registration form and health certificate can be obtained at the OA website: https://www.oacsd.org/o/oe/page/upk-k-registration
Packets can also be obtained at Apalachin Elementary School, 405 Pennsylvania Avenue, Apalachin, or Owego Elementary School, 2 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego.
To be eligible for the program, children must live in the district and turn 4 on or before 12/1/24. Please note that a child may not ride the bus until their 4th birthday. Once a child reaches age 4, the district may be able to provide transportation both ways for full-day sessions. A child who will be 5 by 12/1/24 is not eligible for the program even if the parent chooses not to send the child to kindergarten. Please note that if a child has a significant toileting issue, he/she may not qualify for the program.
UPK sessions are:
Apalachin Elementary – full-day program
Owego Elementary – full-day program
The grant that funds this program stipulates that a child in the UPK program must attend the school that serves their residence.
If you are interested in your child being considered for this program, please complete the registration form and required documentation and return it to the building your child will attend.
In addition to the registration form, the following is required:
Copy of the child’s birth certificate
Two forms of proof of residency
Health certificate signed by your child’s physician.
Immunization record (polio, measles, diphtheria, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B)
You may also complete a UPK registration form at Apalachin Elementary School and Owego Elementary School for the 2024-25 school year on February 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2024 at kindergarten registration.
Due to limited openings, it may be necessary to randomly select which students will be able to attend the program. Registrations will be accepted in the buildings until 9:00 AM on 3/28/24, at which time a random selection will be held at the district office if needed.
If your location or session fills up, you will have the opportunity to choose from other available sessions, if applicable. After all slots are filled, those not selected will be put on a waiting list by the date of receipt of a completed registration. Good Morning, OA School Community. Due to inclement weather in the forecast, OACSD will be dismissing early today, Tuesday, January 23rd.
OES and AES will dismiss students at Noon.
OAMS and OFA will dismiss students at 1:00 p.m.
There will be NO after-school activities.
The afternoon Living Environment regents exam at OFA will be moved to tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, January 24th.
Thursday, January 25th will now be a Regents-Only day for OFA students. OFA students not scheduled to take an exam, will NOT attend school. All OFA students will return to a regular day of school on Friday, January 26th. All other buildings will operate on a regular schedule.
OA REMINDER: There is a Board of Education Regular Meeting tonight, Monday, January 22, 2024, at 6:00 pm. This meeting will be held in the Apalachin Elementary School Library, 405 Pennsylvania Avenue.
