As we prepare for the new school year, we are pleased to share an important tool to help manage your child’s daily commute. Student bus information will officially go live on the My Ride K-12 app on Friday, September 4th.
What is My Ride K-12?
My Ride K-12 is a secure, easy-to-use platform designed to keep you updated on your student’s transportation details. By downloading the app or accessing the web portal, you will be able to view:
Your child’s assigned bus number
Scheduled morning pickup and afternoon drop-off times
Route details and transportation updates
How to Get Started
Mobile App: Download My Ride K-12 from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Web Portal: Access the web version directly at myridek12.tylerapp.com.
Setup Guide: To learn more about My Ride K-12 and the technology we use to keep students safe, please view the My Ride K-12 User Guide Parent Flyer: https://5il.co/2he.
Important Reminders for the Start of School
First-Week Delays: Please expect minor schedule delays during the first few days of school as drivers, students, and families establish their routines. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Elementary Drop-Off Safety: Parents and guardians of elementary students are asked to be clearly visible at the stop during afternoon drop-off. Our bus drivers are instructed to wait until they see a family member to ensure every child gets inside safely before moving on. Having an adult visible right away helps keep the entire route running on time.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community safe and efficiently transported.
Sincerely,
Owego Apalachin Central School District
Transportation Department

With the new school year starting on Wednesday, September 9th, we want to share a few important updates to help ensure a smooth and successful start.
1. Stay Connected with the OACSD Mobile App
Download or update the official OACSD mobile app on your device. It’s the fastest way to receive district news, urgent alerts, and updates directly on your phone.
2. Connect via "Rooms" (Two-Way Messaging)
Inside the OACSD app, you can access Rooms for classroom announcements and two-way messaging with your child’s teachers, club advisors, athletic coaches, and building staff. (Please note: Classes won’t show until published by the teacher. You may log in to Rooms and not see any classes listed. They will begin to populate over the next week, as staff returns and the school year begins.)
Existing Accounts: If you previously signed into Rooms, your account is active. If you experience login issues, verify you are using the email address registered with the district and select "Forgot Your Password" to reset it.
New Accounts: Setup invitations have been sent to parents/guardians without an active account using the email address and/or mobile phone number listed in our Student Information System. Please check for sign-up instructions and feature updates.
Didn't receive an invite? If you haven't received an invitation, your email and/or phone number on file may be missing, outdated, or contain a typo. Please contact your child's school office to update your contact information.
3. Push Notification Troubleshooting
If you are not receiving push notifications from the app, follow these steps:
Uninstall and reinstall the OACSD app.
Select "Allow" / "Yes" when prompted for notification permissions when you open the app.
Tap More (lower right corner), then tap the Gear icon (top right corner).
Select your Notification Preferences and ensure boxes are checked for every school building your child attends or has classes in.
Need Help?
To learn more about navigating the OACSD App and Rooms, visit our Parent Resources Page: https://www.oacsd.org/o/oacsd/page/parent-resources or check out documents here: https://www.oacsd.org/documents/district-communication/rooms-(oacsd-app)/29695094.

Continued Focus on Safety & Wellness: As always, the safety, security, and emotional well-being of our students and staff remain our absolute top priority.
Campus Construction & Facility Updates
You will notice ongoing progress across our campus spaces as we invest in improving our learning environments:
Owego Free Academy (OFA) & Owego Apalachin Middle School (OAMS): Construction has been actively taking place across the secondary campus to enhance facilities, support student programs, and bring the buildings up to state-of-the-art standards, including new HVAC systems and a multi-purpose athletic field.
Apalachin Elementary School (AES): Construction will take place in select spaces, including updates to the cafeteria. In addition, work is scheduled to officially begin on the brand-new playground in 2026-2027.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our facilities. Every decision we make centers on supporting our students' growth, well-being, and success. I am grateful for the strong partnerships we share with our families and community.

Dear Owego Apalachin Families,
We are pleased to inform you that the Owego Apalachin Central School District will be offering meals at no cost to all students as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2026-2027 school year. All children will receive meals at no charge, regardless of household income or form completion.
However, families are strongly encouraged to complete and submit the Free and Reduced-Price application, as this form is used to determine eligibility benefits for State and federal funding/programs.
Why Submitting Your Income Eligibility Form Matters:
Even though school meals are free for all students, submitting your income eligibility form is still critical for your child’s education and our schools. This form directly impacts school funding, student programs, and community resources.
When families submit this form, schools receive accurate data for funding opportunities, which affects:
- Reduced Fees for Families: Qualifies students for fee waivers on SAT/ACT exams, college applications, and extracurricular activities.
- School Funding: Determines how much state and federal aid our schools receive.
- Grants & Special Programs: Affects eligibility for after-school programs, summer learning, and technology grants.
- Student Support Services: Helps fund counselors, intervention specialists, and mental health programs.
What Happens If Families Don't Submit the Form?
- Inaccurate reporting means our schools receive less funding.
- Programs that rely on funding based on these numbers could be cut or reduced.
- The community may lose access to grants designed to support students and families.
Filling out this form is quick, easy, and confidential. It ensures that our schools have the resources they need to support every student.
Action Needed: Submit your form today online at https://secure.ezmealapp.com/ApplicationScreen.aspx.
Printable forms and more information are available here: https://www.oacsd.org/documents/departments/food-services/16870937.
Every Form Matters!

The Transportation Department is working this summer to route for the new School Year! For us to prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we are asking ALL parents/guardians to fill out the following survey to indicate whether or not their child will OR will not need Transportation to begin the new school year. This process helps us to accurately plan bus routes. Typically, buses are routed under the assumption that all students will ride. On many routes, this ends up not being the case, and the bus times become inconsistent for those who are riding. Collecting this information ahead of time and routing students based on actual rider counts will help to keep bus pick-up and drop-off times more accurate as well as more consistent. We are asking all parents to please complete and submit the survey below.
There is an option to select that you DO NOT need transportation, and that information is just as valuable in developing routes as those who will need transportation. **Filling out this information does NOT lock you into your decision for the entire school year. We fully understand that circumstances can and will change throughout the school year. Please make a selection based on your needs for the START of the 2026-2027 School Year.
If your transportation needs change, please contact the Transportation Office (687-7305) or via Onflo (formerly Let's Talk!) https://www.oacsd.org/page/onflo-lets-talk, and we will be happy to work with you on the changes needed for your student. You do not need to 'Hold' a spot for your student(s) in the event they may need transportation at some point in the year. Please indicate on the form what their REGULAR needs will be.
***If your transportation needs do not fall into the categories listed in this form, please contact us at the Transportation Office so we can assist you. Thank you in advance for taking the time to submit your request.
It is requested that the schedule you choose for your student be maintained for a minimum of a Monday–Friday weekly schedule. Changes can be made for emergencies only.
Registration for the District and Tioga County Boys & Girls Club After School Programs will open on Monday, August 10th. More information will follow. Please fill out the survey based on your plans for attending these programs. If something changes after registration, we can update your Transportation Plan accordingly.
